Fct Minister,Dr Aliyu
Modibbo Umar,has commissioned the former
area 1 shopping complex, now renamed
AMAC Ultra modern shopping complex.
Commissioning the
complex,Dr. Modibbo commended the AMAC
chairman Hon Dr. Zaphaniah Bitrus
Jisalo, for the concept and vision that
gave birth to the complex that contains
about 294 shops.
The minister also
challenged other Area council chairmen
to emulate their AMAC counterpart by
creating such investment not only in
their area councils but should apply for
a piece of land in the municipality for
outright development.
Charging Jisalo to be
fair in allocating the shops,Modibbo
noted that building the complex was one
thing, but the hardest nut to crack was
in the sharing formula as many people
might be offended if not given.
Earlier, the minister of
state, FCT senator John James
Akpanudoedehe said, " the successful
completion of the gigantic edifice is a
direct testimony of what local
government or Area councils are capable
of achieving when the leaders are
sincere".
Sen. Akpanudoedehe also
noted that," it also justify the
establishment of local government and
area councils as the third tier of
government in our great country".
He said the constitution
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has
unambiguously saddled the third tier of
government with provision of basic
infrastructures, including primary
health care, potable water, and other
needs to Nigerians.
AMAC chairman, Hon (Dr.)
Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo who described
the day as fulfilled said " it has
translated the area council zeal in
encouraging public -private sector
participation in real estate
development".
" The magnificent
complex contains 294 shops, Bank space,
fire station,100 parking lot,24
convenience and a 24 hour security
apparatus ",he posited.
